NEWS RELEASE

SC GIVES GREEN LIGHT TO AVENUE INVEST TO INCREASE FUND SIZE FOR TWO FUNDS

Date: Wednesday, 6 September 2006

Avenue Invest Berhad (“AvIB”) is pleased to announce that it has obtained approval from the Securities Commission (“SC”) on 1 September 2006 to increase the fund size of its Avenue IncomeEXTRA Fund (“AIEF”) and Avenue BondEXTRA Fund (“ABEF”) to 2 billion and 1.5 billion units, respectively

AvIB’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Danny Wong said “The increase was to accommodate the strong demand for both Funds, as investors are increasingly taking refuge in fixed income funds in light of the volatility of the local market. The growing interest in these Funds also indicates that our investors have confidence in the Funds’ deliverables and the expertise of our Fund Managers.”

He added “Moving forward, the Malaysian equity market is expected to continue to be dictated by external factors. Hence, the defensive strategy would be to diversify into fixed income funds.”

According to the Lipper Fund Table for period ended 4 September 2006, AIEF and ABEF generated a three-year return of 15.20% and 16.81%, respectively. The industry average for the same period was 11.36%.

AIEF is a short-to-medium term fixed income fund that invests in money market securities and other fixed income instruments. It is tailored mainly for conservative investors seeking potentially higher returns than traditional bank deposits. The Fund is benchmarked against 6-months fixed deposit rate.

ABEF is a medium-to-long term fixed income fund designed mainly for long-term investors who are seeking to invest in high yielding fixed income securities with an acceptable high level of risk. The Fund is benchmarked against 12-months fixed deposit rate.
